District 8An advocacy group led by Minnesota's former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman says it's spending $100,000 on television ads pressuring Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan to oppose President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran.

The American Action Network is running the ad online and on Twin Cities television in an "aggressive" short-term ad campaign of several days.

Nolan came out in support of the deal with Iran last month, saying it will make it harder for Iran to get a nuclear weapon, that it includes tough enforcement procedures and that there is "no better alternative to the agreement."

"If the deal is rejected, our allies will desert us, international economic sanctions will fall apart, and a terribly expensive and destructive war in the Middle East will become a real possibility as Iran redoubles its efforts to develop a nuclear bomb," Nolan said in a statement.

The American Action Network disagrees on all points. They say the deal makes it easier for Iran to get a bomb, has weak enforcement and that there are better alternatives.

This isn't the first time Nolan's been attacked on the air this year, with the election well over a year away. The National Republican Congressional Committee hit Nolan over his support for closing the Guantanamo Bay prison. Republicans believe Minnesota's Eighth District could be a chance for a victory in a Democratic-held seat.

After the jump, watch the ad and read a transcript:

NARRATOR: There's a deal with Iran, but who's benefitting? Sanctions erased, unlocking billions for terrorism. Missile embargoes lifted, destabilizing the Middle East. And Iran gets to self-inspect nuclear sites, in a deal paving their way to a bomb. But some in Congress, like Rick Nolan, are ignoring all the warnings in supporting a deal at any price. Call Rick Nolan and tell him to stop siding with Iran.

Coleman, defeated in a close 2008 battle by current Sen. Al Franken, is the chairman of the American Action Network.
